SFDF plans and implements decisions of the Swiss Federal Council on resources in the finance sector.

The Federal Department of Finance performs three main functions:

Provision of Services:

As a customer-oriented resources department, the Department provides services for the entire Federal Administration. These range training to the allocation of workspace and equipment.

Furthermore, the Department ensures that staff conditions in the Federation are adapted to the increasing need for mobility and modern methods of financing.

Policy Formulation:

The Department is stepping up projects that seek to improve conditions so business can flourish, that stop debt, that improve the efficiency of the administration and conditions to guarantee social programmes for the future.

Implementation:

Collects taxes, carries out checks on people and goods at the border, monitors trade in alcohol and enforces severe savings measures in Switzerland.
